At Insort, we are shaping the future of food safety and quality with our innovative sensor-based sorting solutions. We are currently seeking a Technical Field Specialist to join our North American team based in Prince Edward Island or New Brunswick, Canada.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work independently, providing installation, commissioning, servicing, and support for our cutting-edge equipment at customer facilities. With a focus on hands-on skills, technical expertise, and excellent communication, you will play a key part in ensuring seamless operations and resolving issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and set up advanced sorting and monitoring equipment at customer facilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, retrofits, and repairs on existing systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Conduct operator and maintenance training sessions, as well as provide technical guidance to customers
  • Analyse and resolve issues related to mechanics, sensors, electronics, and software in collaboration with internal technical teams
  • Prepare detailed commissioning, service, and performance evaluation reports
  • Provide technical input on new developments and relay feedback on existing equipment to improve product performance
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and problem resolution via remote support when not on-site

Requirements:

  • A technical diploma, college, or university degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field is an asset
  • Background in equipment manufacturing, field service, optical sorting, or food processing
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Strong understanding of IT connectivity, remote diagnostics, and software troubleshooting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and support customers effectively
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented with high-quality standards
  • Willingness to travel 40-50% across North America, with occasional trips to Europe for training
