HVAC/Refrigeration Technician

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing skilled work at the journeyman level in the fabrication, installation, alteration, repair, and/or service of refrigeration/cooling or air handling systems.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair pneumatic, electric, electronic, and pressure-operated building control systems.
- Repair, maintain, and install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems on a variety of systems such as pneumatic, electrical, and electronic.
- Prepare for work projects by performing operational and safety risk assessments, arranging work schedules with user departments, and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Install and repair refrigeration systems such as fridges, freezers, coolers, and ice machines.
- Operate and program heating, ventilating, and air conditioning and refrigeration equipment such as Building Automation Computer Systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and control systems.
- Perform air balancing tests using equipment such as velometers and static pressure equipment.
- Perform mechanical repairs on general and specialized equipment such as compressors, steam valves, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, and sterilizing equipment.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair gas lines specific to HVAC equipment in accordance with BC Gas Safety Code.
- Review work requests and consult with user departments regarding specifications and other project requirements.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent trade.
- Class B level Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C.
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
