Job Summary
The Project Controls Engineer will play a key role in supporting construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing project management duties. This includes project controls systems, engineering interface, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, and scheduling. The successful candidate will provide project administration or support to a Senior Project Engineer on larger projects and manage technical and administrative staff to facilitate instruction management services.
About the Role
This position will be based in the GTA area but will require travel and relocation to various projects throughout Canada and the US. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contract plans and specifications, as well as experience in inspecting field conditions and identifying problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures.
Responsibilities
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures.
- Take corrective actions as needed.
- Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
- Manage document control, including receiving and logging in new issue drawings and contract documents.
- Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Improve project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, and procedural changes.
- Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering. Professional Engineer designation is strongly recommended. 5+ years of experience in construction or engineering is required, as well as a demonstrated willingness to relocate. Infrastructure/Heavy Civil project experience is also required.
