About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities. You will advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors, providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients.

This role requires an evidence-informed approach to practice, with a focus on the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process. You will participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists. A minimum of one year of working experience as a dietitian is preferred, with inpatient clinical nutrition experience being an asset. Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and experience counseling patients are also essential.

We are looking for a team player who can prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure. The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Competencies in other languages are an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 75-hour biweekly schedule. The hourly rate is $32.95 - $43.43, with opportunities for career advancement and professional growth.
