Job Summary

We are seeking a Family Practitioner to join our team at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre. As a Family Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing primary health care and mental health and substance use support to clients in correctional centres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary health care services to clients in correctional centres
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
  • Conduct assessments and provide treatment for clients with mental health and substance use issues
  • Participate in inter-professional teams to provide coordinated care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to ensure seamless transitions of care

Requirements

  • Eligible for provisional or full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians, or equivalent, is mandatory
  • Experience in working with patients with complex mental health and substance use issues
  • Experience in correctional health and/or additional certification or training
