We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our Communications and Community Development efforts. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing effective communications and community engagement strategies that promote public participation and engagement.

Responsibilities

The Communications and Community Development Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications and community engagement strategy. This will involve working closely with our team to identify opportunities for public participation and engagement, and developing creative solutions to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a comprehensive communications and community engagement strategy that promotes public participation and engagement
  2. Provide expert advice on communications and community engagement to management and staff
  3. Liaise with other managers to ensure effective integration of communications materials
  4. Analyze emerging operational issues and provide guidance on issues management and communications plans
  5. Manage communications and community engagement staff and provide direction and guidance
  6. Conduct investigations and administer discipline as necessary
  7. Host regular meetings to discuss departmental goals and objectives
  8. Provide direction and guidance to external consultants related to marketing and communications projects
  9. Develop, refine, update, and implement the communications and community engagement strategy
  10. Plan city-wide communications and community engagement activities
  11. Build connections and collaborate with other managers and staff on City advertising, media releases, and digital communications
  12. Research and write complex materials while ensuring they meet corporate standards and messaging
  13. Administer and monitor communication budgets
  14. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  15. Provide communications expertise and support as a member of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and liaise with the City's Emergency Management Team and Public Affairs Department
