**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled Infection Control Professional to join our team at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the mission, vision and goals of the Infection Prevention and Control Program by performing surveillance for significant organisms, interpreting diagnostic tests and data to identify risks and trends, educating staff, physicians, patients, and families in Infection Prevention and Control Practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Supports the Infection Prevention and Control Program for St. Joseph's Healthcare at all sites by following national guidelines for the surveillance of healthcare-associated infections.
- Follows the Public Health Act (HPPA) for the reporting of communicable infectious diseases.
- Reviews patient records to ascertain clinical signs and symptoms for infection, clinical interventions and requirements for transmission-based precautions.
- Completes patient-specific information.
- Reviews and interprets significant clinical laboratory reports on a daily basis for the purpose of ongoing surveillance and detecting trends.
**Required Qualifications:**
- Completion of a recognized basic education course in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Minimum of two years experience in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control.
- Registered Nurse (baccalaureate in nursing preferred) with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario with minimum 3 years clinical experience.
