Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Job Description

As an Environmental Health and Safety Director, you will be responsible for managing and championing environmental, health, and safety programs for assigned accounts. Your primary goal will be to ensure ongoing compliance with all internal and external requirements to assist assigned accounts in mitigating and managing environment, health, and safety-related risks and improving related performance.

You will collaborate with the National Director and greater HSSE team to audit, develop, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety management systems and associated tools, processes, and procedures in accordance with applicable external management systems. The successful candidate will interface directly with senior clients and may have management and reporting responsibilities beyond their country of residence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental, health, and safety programs and champion a high environmental, health, and safety culture for all assigned accounts.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on assigned accounts relative to environment, health, and safety matters in accordance with all applicable internal and external requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of internal HSSE programs for assigned accounts.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver HSSE programs in support of the client for all assigned accounts.
  • Evaluate and ensure compliance to client-mandated HSSE programs, ensuring all HSSE SLA's and KPI's are met for assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with account teams to ensure all team members are provided with adequate tools and resources to ensure the safe execution of work.
  • Collaborate and coordinate program implementation and alignment across multiple geographies.
Requirements

To succeed as an Environmental Health and Safety Director, you must possess:

  • More than 10 years of environmental, health, and safety program execution work experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Expert-level knowledge of environmental, health, and safety management systems – ISO 14001, CSA Z1000, OHSAS 18001.
  • Advanced program management abilities.
  • Advanced communication, influence, and persuasion skills.
  • Able to develop and deliver environmental, health, and safety-related training.
  • Skilled at incident investigation and resolution, root cause analysis along with preventative and corrective measure implementation.
Education and Certifications

A university degree completed and one or more of the following certifications: Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Certificate in Environmental Management, Canadian Registered Safety Professional from Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals, Certified Health & Safety Consultant from Canadian Society of Safety Engineering.
