Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Mental Health Professional to join the Crisis Home Venture Team in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support services to clients with mental health and addiction issues.
- Monitor clients, document observations, and provide verbal reports in accordance with standard procedures.
- Facilitate the use of community services and resources, and liaise with mental health, addictions, and medical professionals.
- Plan, organize, and co-lead groups as required, and assist clients with daily living activities.
- Participate in team meetings, corporate initiatives, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program, plus two years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's License may be required for local area travel.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of community, social, and health resources.
- Knowledge of substance misuse and mental health issues.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, and observe and recognize changes in clients.
- Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others, and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
