- Legal Advice and Representation: Provide expert legal advice and representation to our staff, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring that our interests are protected and our rights are upheld.
- Court Representation: Represent our organization in court, advocating for our clients' rights and interests, and ensuring that our position is presented in a clear and compelling manner.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement policies and procedures that support our organization's mission and values, ensuring that our services are delivered in a way that is consistent with our goals and objectives.
- Team Management: Manage and supervise a team of legal professionals, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure that our services are delivered to the highest standard.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited university.
- Experience: A minimum of three years' experience in litigation and family law, with a minimum of three years' experience in supervising and leading staff.
- Knowledge and Skills: A solid understanding of and sensitivity to the experiences of First Nations and Indigenous peoples in Canada, as well as a superior knowledge of relevant legislative framework and policies.
- Ability: Ability to ensure the assignment of work is balanced and equitable, capacity to integrate Indigenous knowledge and practices into legal services, and ability to lead, inspire, and support a team.
- Flexibility: The nature of the job requires flexibility in hours worked, with a hybrid work-from-home option available.
- Travel: Travel within the catchment area will be required.
The starting salary range is $115,425.49 to $130,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
