Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist - Critical Care Specialist will work closely with the Care Team Manager to provide leadership and expertise in respiratory therapy and diagnostic principles. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and be able to set up, operate, and assess respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring patient safety and optimal care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides consultation to new medical and nursing staff on respiratory clinical applications.
  • Evaluates and advises on new respiratory and related equipment.
  • Performs functional checks on respiratory and related equipment to ensure quality performance.
  • Repairs and troubleshoots respiratory and related equipment as required.
  • Provides emergency repair backup for anesthetic equipment breakdown or failure.
  • Calibrates blood gas analyzers daily and performs daily and monthly maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Conducts and leads patients through lung function testing and reports results to medical staff.
  • Obtains oxygen assessment measurements and advises on appropriate oxygen therapy.
  • Performs sleep monitoring studies.
  • Obtains electrocardiograms in all areas of the hospital and reports life-threatening cardiac abnormalities to nursing or medical staff.

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of respiratory therapy and diagnostic principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
