Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Prairie Mountain Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support and critical care services to patients in our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to new medical and nursing staff in respiratory clinical applications
  • Evaluate and advise on new respiratory and related equipment
  • Perform functional checks on all respiratory and related equipment to ensure quality performance
  • Repair and troubleshoot respiratory and related equipment as required
  • Provide emergency repair back-up in the O.R. in the event of anesthetic equipment breakdown or failure
  • Calibrate blood gas analyzers daily, perform daily and monthly maintenance and quality control procedures and records all work performed
  • Assess respiratory status of all respiratory patients and charts all findings
  • Perform various tests in diagnosing patients' illnesses
  • Administer therapeutic procedures in the treatment and management of patients
  • Participate in seminars and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest changes in techniques and equipment
Requirements
  • Eligible for and maintains licensure to practice as a respiratory therapist in the Province of Manitoba
  • Certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Strong organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
  • Ability to display independent judgment
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
