Job Title: Senior Technical Writer

Job Summary:

CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to join our team. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation for our Military Command and Control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and/or summarize technical documents for various audiences, including engineering, system managers, and end-users.
  • Design the layout of documents/manuals, applying specific formatting specifications.
  • Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages.
  • Review documentation standards and existing project documentation.
  • Determine documentation requirements and make plans to meet them.
  • Assess the audience for documents/manuals and prepare a statement of purpose and scope for each.
  • Develop a table of contents for each document/manual and write or edit the required content.
  • Document help text, user manuals, technical documentation, web page content, etc.
  • Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages.
  • Gather information concerning the features and functions provided by developers.
  • Investigate the accuracy of the information collected by making direct use of the material being documented.
  • Prepare or coordinate the preparation of any required illustrations and diagrams.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation in various formats and tools.
  • Use word-processing, desk-top publishing, and graphics software packages to produce final production-ready copy.
  • Advise on the appropriateness, applicability, and effectiveness of specific technical documents, formats, notations, and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in technical writing.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in technical writing on Military Command and Control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of business correspondence and reports in the field of Information Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience with the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology/Information management or engineering.
  • Proof University Degree or College Diploma in any discipline.
  • Experience providing advice and/or guidance on technical writing issues.
  • Experience providing verbal briefings/presentations on a technical topic.
  • Experience planning, researching, gathering information, and authoring technical documentation such as Statement of Requirements, System Specifications, and user manuals and guides.
  • Experience proofreading technical documents created by others.
  • Experience analyzing material, such as specifications (technical Statement of Work/Requirement), notes, drawings, writing manuals, user guides, and other documents to explain the requirement clearly and concisely.
