Site Medical Director and Chief of Staff Opportunity

Job Summary:

The Site Medical Director and Chief of Staff is a leadership position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services within the Island Health organization. This position requires a strong leader who can co-lead and oversee activities to ensure integrated service delivery, link with departmental medical leaders to address governance issues, and monitor site performance to facilitate course corrections.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Governance: Co-lead and oversee activities to ensure integrated service delivery within the site; Link with departmental medical leaders to address matters of physician governance, including professional medical practice issues.
  2. Operations and Quality Management: Co-monitor site performance with a focus on issues that arise between programs, and facilitate course corrections when necessary; Ensure appropriate investigation and resolution of site-related PSLS and PCQO events; Collaborate with departmental medical leaders and medical affairs to address individual practitioner quality issues.
  3. Change Management and Implementation: Co-develop and implement change management plans to engage and support site physicians and staff through change.
  4. Informatics and Technology: Oversee activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery within the site, in collaboration with the IHealth team and the Quality Systems team.
  5. Strategic Planning and Resource Allocation: Assess, monitor, and anticipate site resource needs and work with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
  6. Cultural Safety and Humility: Demonstrate a commitment to one's own journey of cultural humility and engage in conversations around cultural safety.
  7. LEADS Capabilities: Utilize LEADS-based capabilities in the delivery of services.
