Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a leading Canadian company in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their team at the Woodfibre LNG Project. Located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia, this project involves the construction and operation of an LNG export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable production, meeting the requirements of our offtaker. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Process Engineer will work closely with a small team of multi-discipline engineers to support the plant Operations group through various phases, including construction, commissioning, start-up, and steady-state operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to a process support team, focusing on Process Engineering, Process Control, Production Planning, and Laboratory Services.
  • Support the start-up of the plant, collaborating with the plant Operations group to optimize the commissioning and start-up schedule.
  • Manage Production Planning and Forecasting, providing support to the Marketing function.
  • Oversee the plant feed gas demand and interface with the pipeline operator, Fortis BC.
  • Prepare for, manage, and report on process unit and equipment performance test runs.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the plant process units and utility systems daily, weekly, and monthly, aiming to continuously improve process safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Support maximizing plant capacity through process simulation, calculations, and reporting.
  • Lead and implement all process safety requirements.
  • Manage a system for plant trip investigation/reporting and reliability improvement.
  • Continuously improve plant performance through initiation and follow-through on Management of Change.
  • Lead HAZOP and other process safety reviews where required.
  • Provide day-to-day support for operations on production issues.
  • Analyze and report on plant and equipment performance for cost and efficiency improvement.
  • Manage the plant laboratory and external laboratory service contractor, providing quality assurance for the LNG product.
  • Provide adequate performance measurement and feedback for process support team members.
  • Set and communicate yearly tasks and targets for each person in the process support team.
  • Manage the process support team's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to continually improving personnel and process safety in the plant.
  • Champion process safety and manage the process safety systems.
  • Support the plant risk register and mitigations management.
  • Provide technical support to Emergency Response Management teams.
  • Participate in audits as required by plant management.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of proven technical competence within the LNG industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral).
  • Superior knowledge of commercial liquefaction technologies.
  • Possess advanced knowledge and working experience in the LNG manufacturing process chain, particularly in Inlet feed-gas Pre-Treatment, Liquefaction, and Storage & Loading.
  • Skilled in process simulation and unit performance monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising a process engineering team.
  • Knowledge and experience of project interface requirements during construction and commissioning.
  • Proven experience in production and support of an operating liquefaction plant.
  • Experienced in leading plant improvements processes and management.
  • Competent in HAZOP and other technical safety reviews.
  • Experience in management of change systems.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with front-line workers through to management level.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license and passport.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 per year
