Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join the Ultrasound team at Squamish Hospital in Squamish, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts ultrasound examinations, adhering to patient safety protocols.
- Support the team by completing requisitions, entering data into the diagnostic imaging system, preparing patients for procedures, and conducting examinations using ultrasound and Doppler techniques.
- May perform venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed by the Radiologist/Cardiologist.
- Participate in committees, teams, and research projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography, certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or certified with Sonography Canada and passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Sonography procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic sonographic and medical imaging equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform sonographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
