Job Description:

As a Professor of Statistics at the University of Ottawa, you will be responsible for teaching students the fundamentals of statistical methods and tools in business. This includes data exploration, descriptive statistics, and the application of random variables and their probability distributions in business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach students the use of statistical methods and tools in business, including data exploration and descriptive statistics.
  • Apply random variables and their probability distributions in business, including binomial, Poisson, normal, exponential, and uniform distributions.
  • Introduce students to statistical process control and quality improvement.
  • Provide hands-on experience with Excel and/or Minitab.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree (PhD preferred) in statistics or a field of study where statistics for management were applied extensively.
  • Recent professional experience directly related to the use of statistics for management.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time professor position, with a workload of 39 hours per week. The course schedule is Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Language of Instruction:

The language of instruction is English.
