Job Summary

The Structural Engineer II will be responsible for analyzing existing structures and designing new ones, including building structures, water tanks, and towers. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to provide quality control review of engineering services performed by other engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing structures and design new ones, ensuring compliance with current standards and building codes
  • Work with existing processes to correctly open analysis projects and design modifications to existing structures
  • Collaborate with Designer staff on the development of modification drawings and generate required engineering reports
  • Review Quality Assurance (QA) and final review on structural analysis reports and designs
  • Provide assistance on unusual problems and answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field required, Master's degree preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • 2+ years of Structural Engineering experience
  • Building design experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry preferred
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software preferred
Working Conditions

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The employee will be required to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. While performing the external job duties, the employee will be regularly required to be at site locations both on the ground and on building roof tops, sit, stand, walk, use both hands, and reach and raise items above the head, use fingers to feel and handle, talk and hear.

Work Environment

Most work is performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment worked under normal office conditions. Less than 5% of work is performed externally, on-site, outdoors, with exposure to the elements of nature.
