Black & McDonald is seeking an experienced Service Refrigeration or Plumber technician to join our Service Division in Saskatoon, SK. If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional searching for a career opportunity, this position is for you.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Refrigeration/Plumber Technician to join our team The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of refrigeration/HVAC systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain customers' refrigeration systems.
  • Work on RTUs and HVAC systems.
  • Inspect system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves.
  • Perform system checks, system troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
  • Perform electrical and gas system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain records including daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records.
  • Research and resolve complex system problems.
  • Complete assigned paperwork and forms.
  • Conduct safety inspections, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and verify that safety regulations are followed.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience as a HVAC/refrigeration technician.
  • HVAC certification.
  • Braising and soldering skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications.
