Job Summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to an in-depth literature review on the socio-economic characteristics of indigenous populations in Central Africa, and of targeted communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research on the socio-economic situation of indigenous peoples in the Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Contribute to the development of a research project on the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples in Central Africa to their natural resources, and on the protection of their traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports and publications

Requirements

  • Undergraduate students
  • Excellent writing skills in English and/or French
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic situation of indigenous peoples in the Democratic Republic of Congo will be considered an asset
  • Second language proficiency level:
    • Spoken: Passive
    • Reading: Active
    • Writing: Active
