Key Responsibilities
  • Engage Children in Activities: Develop and implement engaging activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development in children.
  • Support Early Childhood Educators: Assist educators in planning and implementing educational programs, preparing materials, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Prepare Snacks and Meals: Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for children, ensuring dietary needs and restrictions are met.
  • Submit Written Observations: Document children's progress, behavior, and development, providing valuable insights for educators and caregivers.
  • Attend Staff Meetings: Participate in regular staff meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and best practices in childcare.
Support for Diverse Groups
  • Accessibility Accommodations: Provide physical, visual, and auditory accessibility accommodations to ensure equal access for individuals with disabilities.
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Assist with settlement needs, language training, and social integration for newcomers and refugees.
  • Support for Youth: Participate in youth employment programs, offer on-the-job training, and provide mentorship opportunities.
  • Support for Veterans: Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for veterans, and provide resources for their transition into the civilian workforce.
  • Support for Indigenous People: Develop relationships with indigenous communities, provide cultural competency training, and facilitate access to Elders.
  • Support for Mature Workers: Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination, offer mentorship, and provide phased retirement options.
  • Support for Visible Minorities: Participate in programs that support visible minorities, apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination, and offer mentorship programs.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
