Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Pension Analyst to join our team at Makivvik. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional payroll services and want to make a meaningful contribution to our organization.

As a Payroll and Pension Analyst, you will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees, compiling payroll data, extracting timesheets, and reviewing work hours for completeness and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and procedures;
  2. Compile payroll data, including garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and other deductions;
  3. Extract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracy;
  4. Process payroll data to the Payroll Provider, CERIDIAN / DAYFORCE;
  5. Create internal management reports from the payroll system;
  6. Adhere to all procedures and policies;
  7. Verify payroll profiles for new employees;
  8. Maintain employee profiles, ensuring they are up-to-date;
  9. Ensure accurate processing of wage changes for pay periods;
  10. Follow payroll procedures for terminated employees;
  11. Administer benefit payments;
  12. Stay current with payroll regulations, standards, and work methods;
  13. Reconcile payroll totals and ensure deductions to pension plans and health benefit plans are made as scheduled;
  14. Ensure accurate processing of sick leave, benefits, and vacation;
  15. Respond to employee and government agency inquiries regarding payroll;
  16. Ensure timely distribution of T4s;
  17. Participate in required meetings, providing input and recommendations;
  18. Be available for travel, as requested;
  19. Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  1. College degree in a related field;
  2. Minimum two years of relevant experience;
  3. Dayforce payroll experience an asset;
  4. Canadian payroll association certification preferred or in the process of completion;
  5. Good communication skills in at least two languages: English and/or French;
  6. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
  7. Organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner;
  8. Excellent attention to detail;
  9. Knowledge of Nunavik and the Inuit culture and traditions, an asset;
  10. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;
  11. Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  12. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  13. Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and mathematical skills;
  14. Knowledge in clerical accounting, bookkeeping procedures, and payroll processing.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience.
