Job Summary

The Retail Store Manager Lead is responsible for collaborating closely with the Corporate Store Manager and retail store team to ensure exceptional service quality, business profitability, and teamwork. This role plays a critical part in the day-to-day operations of the stores, focusing on achieving operational efficiencies, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

This position also oversees workplace wellness and health and safety, ensuring active compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage daily store operations, including supervising opening and closing procedures, counting and balancing tills, conducting safe audits, and preparing and delivering daily deposits to the bank.
  • Operate cash registers and POS systems, administering Retail Store Manager Lead functions as required, and maintaining honesty and integrity when managing transactions and handling cash.
  • Restock shelves, barrels, tubs, pails, and displays, and place orders for Warehouse and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) items, tracking expiry dates and receiving orders efficiently.
  • Submit daily and weekly paperwork to the Corporate Office, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Ensure stores are well-maintained, adhering to 'closing to open' standards, and maintain clear and defined associate floor plans to uphold visual merchandising standards and an outstanding customer engagement culture.
  • Work with the Corporate Store Manager to manage labor and create weekly work schedules to meet budgeted staffing models.
People Management
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Store Manager to identify trends in underperformance and strong performers within the assigned store team, developing targeted performance improvement plans.
  • Address issues proactively and report unresolved concerns to the Corporate Store Manager, ensuring the store team performs tasks according to Company standards.
  • Motivate staff to perform their duties to the best of their abilities, upholding Bulk Barn Foods Limited's standards, assigning break times in compliance with Company Policy, and delegating tasks effectively.
Team Collaboration
  • Coach and motivate staff to achieve their full potential, leveraging flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion to drive results.
  • Lead the team in performing day-to-day tasks, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, supporting training sessions, performance management meetings, and staff gatherings.
Service Excellence
  • Elevate customer expectations by providing exceptional service, holding the store team accountable for measurable results, assisting customers, and ensuring the store remains clean at all times.
  • Promote a positive and customer-focused attitude among the team, driving change as needed to achieve success.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, ensuring bins, tubs, and shelves are consistently stocked and tidy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Handler and Food Safe Certification, an asset
  • Standard First Aid Certificate, an asset
  • 3 years' experience working in a retail environment, preferably in food retail
  • Experience managing under pressure, multitasking, and time management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Leadership experience, including team supervision
  • Confidential information handling experience
  • Customer service experience and conflict resolution skills
