Job Summary

Farris LLP is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join our team. As a key member of our real estate group, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of our busy practice, including drafting, reviewing, and analyzing commercial contracts, conducting title and due diligence searches, and managing commercial real estate closings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer files from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Prepare documents for acquisitions and sales of commercial properties, including loan and construction financing documents.
  • Conduct title and off-title due diligence searches, and prepare summaries of key transaction dates.
  • Draft statutory rights of way, covenants, and easements.
  • Review and process purchase and sales agreements, deposits, and payouts.
  • Prepare internal documents for trust transactions, and discharge of mortgages.
  • Communicate with vendors, purchasers, financial institutions, clients, lawyers, brokers, and others.
  • Participate in client interviews, and engage in direct phone and email communications.
  • Provide administrative support as required, in coordination with existing administrative assistants.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of paralegal experience in commercial real estate transactions.
  • Experience with banking and lending transactions is an asset.
  • Strong document production skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office registration requirements, and e-filing capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of various applicable databases, including BC Online, LTSA, and municipal tax searches.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

The typical salary range for this position is $80,000 – $90,000 annually, based on location and job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity.
