About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Android software engineer intern to join our team at Socotra, Inc. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside top engineers in the industry and contribute to the development of user-facing products.

Our team is passionate about delivering exceptional transportation experiences, and we believe that this requires a deep understanding of our world, our cities, and our streets. We are looking for someone who shares our passion and is eager to learn and grow with us.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of features
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
  • Contribute to the development of new features and improvements to existing ones
  • Work closely with designers to ensure delightful user experiences
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a university in Canada
  • Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals and Kotlin
  • Past experience developing Android mobile apps
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose and declarative UI development is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for community, sustainability, and/or transportation

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day.
