About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Bigras Transport inc. in Gatineau, Outaouais.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain school buses to ensure safe and reliable transportation for students.
  • Conduct road tests to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Complete detailed mechanical maintenance reports and work orders to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform paint and finishing repairs to maintain the appearance and integrity of our fleet.
  • Implement and follow-up on the Preventive Maintenance Program (PMP) to prevent mechanical failures and reduce downtime.
  • Compile parts lists for repairs and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Monitor warranties and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
  • Issue parts release slips on work orders and maintain accurate records.
  • Organize and maintain the workshop, including equipment and store.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on technical documentation and industry developments.
  • Clean and maintain work and wash areas to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Install radio, camera, and GPS equipment on new vehicles.
  • Detect and diagnose mechanical problems to prevent breakdowns and ensure safe operation.

Requirements

  • DEP in heavy vehicle mechanics or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of diesel mechanics, electric propulsion, Cummins, Wabco, Outlook, and Allison software.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic brakes.
  • PEP card (an asset).
  • Valid Canadian work permit.
