Hydraulic Machinist Job Description

At Barry Yahoo, we're seeking a skilled Hydraulic Machinist to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a leader in the supply and repair of hydraulic equipment, we're looking for a talented individual to grow our hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform machining tasks using engineering sketches or verbal instructions
  • Compute dimensions within tolerances to lay out work for fabrication
  • Make precision measurements using precision measuring instruments and techniques
  • Disassemble and assemble components, fit aligning and adjusting components to precise tolerances
  • Set up jigs, fixtures or machine attachments required for complex precision parts and equipment
  • Determine tooling requirements, setup procedures and control settings based on requirements
  • Operate lathe, mill, grinder, and material handling equipment
  • Inspect work pieces at the beginning of and throughout production runs to ensure parts meet tolerance requirements
  • Inspect and understand when to replace cutting tools
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively use all necessary measuring tools to assure conformance to print
  • Maintain a safe working environment and good housekeeping practices
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Flexibility and communication skills are essential
  • Work well in a team as well as independently
Qualifications:
  • Community college graduation plus completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program and Ontario Machinist Certificate of Qualification
  • Thorough knowledge of machining methods and shop mathematics
  • Ability to compute dimensions, tapers, cutting angles, tool settings, feed rates, and machine speeds
  • Ability to operate manual equipment with a minimum of three years of experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • English verbal and written communication
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible work schedules as needed
