About the Role

Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled Tax Auditor to join their team in the Taxation Division.
As a Tax Auditor, you will be responsible for auditing medium-sized businesses under various statutes administered by the division. This includes the Retail Sales Tax Act and the Health and Post Secondary Education Tax Levy Act, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), and International Registration Plan (IRP). You will work closely with senior officials of the businesses to complete and finalize audits, providing interpretations of taxation statutes to taxpayers, accountants, lawyers, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Audit medium-sized businesses under various statutes.
  • Work with senior officials of the businesses to complete and finalize audits.
  • Provide interpretations of taxation statutes to taxpayers, accountants, lawyers, and the general public.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in accounting and enrolled in the intermediate levels of the Canadian CPA program.
  • Extensive experience in auditing and/or accounting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently under minimum supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop respectful and collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.

About the Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a competitive salary that reflects the importance of this role within the organization.
