Heavy Duty Mechanic Technician

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our team at Dawson International Truck Centres. As an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, overhauling, reconditioning, and performing diagnostic troubleshooting of motorized commercial trucks, buses, and road transport equipment.

This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, power and drive trains, and hydraulics. You will work closely with the Parts Department and Service Advisors to ensure that our customers' fleets operate with excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prioritizing safety in all aspects of the job
  • Striving to exceed industry standards by continuously offering first-class customer service
  • Successfully determining vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts
  • Maintaining current and accurate vehicle records by documenting all services and repairs
  • Ensuring equipment is available for use by completing preventive maintenance
  • Correcting vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
  • Verifying vehicle performance by conducting test drives and confirming repair completion before releasing unit to the customer
  • Complying with federal and provincial vehicle requirements by inspecting vehicle's to CVSE compliance

Requirements include:

  • 2nd or 3rd year Apprentice to Journeyman Mechanic
  • Red Seal is an asset
  • Strong electrical diagnostic skills
  • Class 1 or 3 driver's license is an asset
  • Air brake experience is an asset
  • First aid experience is an asset
  • Engine transmission experience is an asset
  • Strong self-motivational skills
  • Goal oriented and a team player
