Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team. As an LPN, you'll provide comprehensive assessments, treatment management, and guidance to clients with mental health and addiction-related issues. You'll work collaboratively with our team to develop and implement client care plans, ensuring the highest level of care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver client care according to the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Provide ongoing client care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Formulate and implement client care plans.
  • Safely implement physician's orders.
  • Administer medications to clients.
  • Maintain current progress records on clients according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client's involvement in addiction treatment.
  • Decide and initiate on course of action in case of medical emergencies.
  • Provide supportive counselling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit conducive to the client learning productive patterns of living.
  • Provide ongoing health teaching to clients in relation to common health problems and the clients maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • Co-ordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
  • Actively participate with team members in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the client and his care.
  • Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
  • Perform other duties as outlined on shift duty lists and as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Alberta.
  • Current basic CPR.
  • Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Leadership/Charge experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Knowledge of/experience with a team-based person-centered care approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
