About the Position

The Abilities Case Specialist will be responsible for managing employee disability claims, including short and long-term cases. This role involves working closely with employees, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective return-to-work plans.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Case management of employee disability claims, including WSIB and HOODIP legislation
  2. Coordination of modified transitional return to work plans and temporary and permanent workplace accommodations
  3. Adjudication of benefits and review of medical documentation
  4. Documentation and maintenance of Employee Chart/Claim file records
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or other health-related science discipline
  • Minimum three years of experience in disability claims management
  • Experience in a unionized environment, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Registration with relevant college and membership in relevant professional association (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation
