About the Role



The Nature Conservancy of Canada is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Estrie stewardship team as a Conservation Intern.



As a Conservation Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our project coordinator to conduct fieldwork on NCC properties across Eastern Townships, process field data, and prepare reports.



This internship position is designed to provide hands-on experience and a well-rounded introduction to conservation work, with opportunities to work closely with partner organizations, local stewards, and volunteers.



Key Responsibilities




  • Participate in fieldwork on NCC properties, including classification of ecosystems, property inspections, and invasive species control
  • Assist in the management of volunteers and property stewards
  • Perform data entry, analysis, and reporting using Microsoft Office and an in-house database system
  • Attend local events and participate in conservation efforts
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements




  • Studied in a field related to biology, ecology, geography, or the outdoors
  • Some experience in the outdoors, patrolling, land management, or other relevant experience
  • Strong interest in conservation of natural environments and biodiversity
  • Adaptability and flexibility in daily plans
  • Comfortable hiking and working in remote wilderness areas
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible
  • Willing to learn and follow protocols
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of basic software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools
  • Physical fitness and a valid driver's license


What We Offer
