Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant with a strong background in financial reporting and accounting principles to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing hedge strategies under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to ensure the Bank qualifies eligible derivatives for hedge accounting treatment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain experience with systems and technical accounting knowledge in a variety of Bank's financial products, valuations & analysis and reporting. You will also have the chance to work closely with business partners globally and manage various projects for system developments and operational process improvements.

About You
  • You will collaborate daily with front office and other business lines with their hedging requests, reviewing eligibility, identifying associated strategies or setting up new ones and completing required documentation.
  • Ongoing monitoring of hedging relationships to ensure they continue to meet requirements for hedge qualification and have high effectiveness.
  • You will ensure all instruments in hedging relationships are active and obtain confirmation of hedged item existence and hedge activity from various business areas monthly.
  • Manage tight month-end close by reconciling, analyzing, and communicating hedge accounting results for various hedging units to Group Treasury and other business partners.
  • Prepare information for quarterly and annual financial disclosure, and provide support for ad-hoc analysis and financial reporting.
  • Remain current with emerging industry best practices for hedge qualification through research and critical reading of articles issued by regulatory bodies and industry associations.
Your Skills and Qualifications
  • You possess self-driven, analytical, and collaborative skills, with problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills.
  • You have solid knowledge of finance and financial products including various derivatives.
  • You hold a Post-secondary degree in Finance/Accounting/Business with a minimum of 4 years industry experience, and an accounting designation (CPA) or working towards designation is an asset.
  • You possess knowledge of Peak or system trading system, PeopleSoft EGL, OBI, Excel, Power Point.
