Your Team

As part of the Portfolio Management Group, the Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management team aims to improve the likelihood that the strategic portfolio responds to PSP's value proposition. To achieve this, the team:

  • Determines the economic and financial scenario that feeds our medium-term market hypotheses.
  • Determines, implements, and manages the desired asset category and currency exposures for the target portfolio.
  • Leads the activities of portfolio rebalancing (assets and currencies) to ensure exposures are aligned with the desired global portfolio objectives.
  • Establishes and oversees dynamic asset allocation, global portfolio currency management (including dynamic currency management).
Your Role

As the Senior Portfolio Strategist, you will lead the Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management team and contribute to the design of the team's quantitative processes and tools. You will also act as a cross-functional leader to develop internal global economic and financial scenarios to support investment recommendations and dynamic asset allocation and currency management activities for the global portfolio.

You will lead a team of professionals and report to the Director, Dynamic Asset Allocation and Currency Management, within the Portfolio Management Group.

Specifically, as the Senior Portfolio Strategist, you will:

  • Lead the development of internal models and global economic and financial scenarios (medium-term market hypotheses), including those used for various stress tests.
  • Identify and closely monitor global economic and financial conditions (monetary policy, equities, fixed income, commodities, and private assets).
  • Lead the design of periodic investment strategy perspectives on asset allocation and currency management for PSP's global portfolio, for the benefit of PSP's senior leadership and investment teams.
  • Produce, supervise, and coordinate the documents presented to investment committees and ensure clear communication.
  • Develop synergies between various teams within the Global Portfolio Management and PSP.
  • Act as an expert in global economic and financial scenarios to disseminate knowledge and influence PSP's investment groups to ensure alignment of public and private investments with the global portfolio's investments to position the portfolio on a three-year horizon.
  • Lead and develop PSP's relationships with external market strategists and leverage their ideas where necessary within the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative quantitative tools and techniques to support the global portfolio's investment processes, decisions, and recommendations to investment committees.
What You'll Need

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Doctorate or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience, including in financial research, economic and econometric research, asset management, private asset evaluation, and various quantitative methods applied to finance.
  • Several years of experience in high-level positions requiring leadership and influence skills.
  • An established network with influential market strategists.
  • Strong experience in asset allocation, investment strategy, and/or currency management.
  • Experience with programming languages, particularly EViews and econometric modeling.
  • Previous experience in a pension fund or similar institution is an asset.
  • CFA designation is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and French (or willingness to learn).
