Job Summary

The City of Delta is seeking a skilled and experienced Shuttle Bus Driver to join our team. As a Shuttle Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting seniors in the Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a shuttle bus in a safe and professional manner, adhering to traffic laws and safety rules.
  • Assist senior passengers with embarking and disembarking the shuttle bus, including loading mobility devices.
  • Ensure all passengers are properly seated and belted at all times while on the shuttle bus.
  • Complete daily log books and track all trips.
  • Conduct safety checks and report any incidents involving safety and/or service.
  • Maintain office records and other material related to the work using a computer terminal.
  • Perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • Class 1, 2, 4 (unrestricted) BC Driver's License.
  • Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, or OFA Level 1 Certificate.
  • Thorough knowledge of safe operation of a shuttle bus and of the precautions to be taken to avoid traffic accidents.
  • Sound knowledge of techniques involved in assisting senior passengers with embarking and disembarking the shuttle bus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and the public.
  • Ability to interact with seniors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by experience working with persons with physical disabilities or challenges and/or seniors.
