We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our Core Platforms team at Wattpad. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the backend systems that power our platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems using Go and PHP.
  • Develop and maintain microservices and monoliths, ensuring reliability, security, and ease of operation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives and extend the platform's capabilities.
  • Research and implement new technologies to solve scaling issues and improve system performance.
  • Advocate for best practices, systems, and tools across the engineering organization.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a SaaS engineering role.
  • Proficiency in Go or PHP, with experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
