We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs, promoting inclusive learning environments, and fostering positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with exceptionalities, including those with neuro-diverse needs
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans, adapting materials, and modifying instructional strategies to meet student needs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and school staff to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with diverse needs
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom culture by promoting social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and restorative practices
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
- Experience working with youth, particularly in educational settings
- Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services, or Medical Services (an asset)
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team and take initiative in supporting students and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, establishing cooperative and authentic connections
- Desire and passion for developing and maintaining strong and respectful relationships with students, families, and school staff
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments and adapt to changing priorities
- Security Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check) prior to starting work
- Standard First Aid Certificate or willingness to complete within 3 months
- Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the 2023/24 school year
