Job Title: Assistant Produce Team Lead

This is a leadership role that requires a quality-driven individual who is passionate about training and developing people in a profitable business. The role involves hands-on work in preparing and presenting produce for sale, with a focus on creating abundant, appealing, and fresh-looking displays.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Produce Lead to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the purchasing department to ensure specifications and pricing from approved suppliers are followed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including equipment maintenance and sanitation systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer requests and questions in a timely and personalized manner.
  • Maintain food safety standards and company procedures to ensure food safety.
  • Ensure all cases and shelves throughout the department are clean, well-stocked, and rotated.
  • Oversee sampling of department products to customers and stay informed about new products introduced.
  • Ensure back areas and coolers are well-maintained, organized, and dated.
  • Document all waste, department transfers, and store transfers immediately.
  • Assist in monthly inventory and stay aware of current sales, margins, and action plans from team leaders.
  • Follow proper receiving procedures as per company guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Packaging, wrapping, and rotation of products must be followed.
  • Assist in cross-merchandising with other departments.
  • Execute all cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Attend all department, store, and training meetings.
  • Accept and check all products from the receiver.
  • Answer the telephone with proper etiquette and urgency.
  • Wash and sanitize utensils when necessary.
  • Clean, peel, slice, and trim vegetables and fruits for ready-to-serve offerings.
  • Prepare ready-to-serve products such as Sunterra's freshly squeezed juices.
  • Perform other duties delegated by team leaders and store leaders.
  • Available for night and weekend shifts.
Working Conditions:
  • Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
  • May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
  • Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
  • Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
  • May need to use a ladder or stool to reach product or supplies.
  • Some exposure to continuous background and occasional loud noises.
  • Repetitive stretching and lifting required.
  • Items over 40 pounds require a team lift.
Qualifications:
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent merchandising skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with inventories, statements, margin, and labor controls.
  • Passion for fresh foods and customer service.
  • Self-motivated and problem-solving skills.
  • Math skills.
