A Day in the Life of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

As an SLP, you will evaluate, plan, and administer medically prescribed or educationally relevant speech therapy treatment to clients in their homes or students in their respective educational environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively monitoring and amending patient visit schedules to maximize productivity and patient need.
  • Performing comprehensive assessments of assigned patients, including psychosocial, educational, safety, and risk factor parameters.
  • Developing plans of care to promote optimal functional independence and safety.
  • Providing skilled speech-language therapy treatment, including therapeutic techniques, patient/caregiver education, etc.
  • Cordinating patient care with other clinical team members, including physicians, nurses, caregivers, other rehab services, and students.
  • Assessing patients' needs for HCA services, developing and coordinating POC with patient/caregiver, and providing ongoing supervision.
  • Serving as a Home Care ST as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • A current Vermont State SLP license.
  • Two years of clinical Speech Language Pathology experience.
  • Active enrollment in clinical fellowship year or successful completion of certificate of clinical competency.
  • A valid Driver's License.
