The Education Support Specialist will assist in the supervision and instruction of students with special needs, under the direction of certified staff. This role requires a high level of patience, understanding, and adaptability to support students with diverse abilities and needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students with various disabilities, under the direction of certified staff, to address specific student issues and support learning and social development.
- Implement and supervise instructional activities, such as individual and small group lessons, to reinforce learning objectives and ensure student safety and success.
- Attend meetings and training sessions to receive and convey information relative to job functions and learning outcomes.
- Maintain instructional materials and confidential student files/records, documenting activities and ensuring availability of learning materials.
- Monitor students during various activities, modeling appropriate behavior and providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Perform hygiene procedures and provide learning processes to support student physical and intellectual development.
- Respond to emergency situations and potential conflicts with students, de-escalating behaviors and directing the situation toward a positive outcome.
- Support behavioral plans designed by the IEP team to assist in meeting special education students' needs and providing a consistent environment for learning and progress.
High school graduation or GED and highly qualified certification.
