About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Registered Midwife to provide safe, flexible primary care to women and their babies during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.

As a primary care provider, you will be responsible for clinical decisions and the management of care within your scope of practice. You will provide care to women and newborns in various settings, including the client's home, community clinics, and hospitals, in accordance with the Midwifery Model of Practice and the Standards of the Midwifery Regulatory Council of Nova Scotia.

Key responsibilities include providing low-risk prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including physical examinations, screening and diagnostic tests, risk assessment, and normal vaginal deliveries. You will work collaboratively with other health professionals and consult with or refer to medical specialists as needed.

The ideal candidate will possess a baccalaureate degree from a Canadian university midwifery education program or equivalent qualifications and be entitled to become a registrant of the MRCNS. Active practicing license from the Midwifery Regulatory Council of Nova Scotia and current certification in CPR, NRP, and emergency skills in obstetrics are also required.

We encourage applicants to apply if they have experience working with multicultural and vulnerable populations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate sound decision-making skills in crisis situations.

Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
