Mud Plant Operator Job Description

At Bothar, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mud Plant Operator to join our operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the safe, technical, and economical operation, maintenance, and setup of our Separation Plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Separation Plant, including the setup and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitor and control the drilling fluids system, including the mixing and recycling of mud.
  • Collaborate with the TBM operators and Site Supervisor to ensure the successful execution of the project.
  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Develop and implement effective mud management strategies to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
  • Participate in daily site safety meetings and shift crossover meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, including the identification and replacement of consumable parts.
  • Monitor and record separation plant equipment and tank volumes to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the drilling fluids system, including the properties and behavior of different mud types.
  • Collaborate with the site team to ensure the successful execution of the project, including the preparation and maintenance of equipment.
Requirements:
  • Experience with separation plant equipment, including shakers, centrifuges, and pumps.
  • Knowledge of drilling fluids systems, including the properties and behavior of different mud types.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, including safety procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a confined space and at heights, with a valid ticket for boiler operation.
  • Relevant work experience with Microtunnel Boring Machines and trenchless technology is an asset.
  • Certification in WHIMIS, First Aid, CSTS or PCST, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and Fall Arrest/Fall Protection is required.
Working Conditions:

This position is assigned to field locations during operations, with hours of work varying, including night shifts based on project schedules. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and must be fluent in English (written and spoken).

Pre-employment drug and alcohol clearance is required. The successful candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions, inside and outside, and must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
