Career Opportunity and Primary Responsibilities

We seek an experienced Senior Material and Product Compliance Engineer to develop design-for-compliance specifications and plans, troubleshoot, and resolve compliance issues that arise in our business processes. This leader will have a strong background in Environmental and Product Compliance, with demonstrated ability to lead and get the right things done quickly and effectively.

Key Job Requirements

  • Implement material and product compliance strategy, roadmap, and specification in the area of CE certification, hazardous substances, and material safety to meet business objectives such as new product launch, new site launch, new technology development, onboarding new ODMs, etc.
  • Create procedures and guidelines to mitigate compliance issues early in the design phase, and ensure that hardware meets governmental and industry regulations in international markets.
  • Deliver compliance risk assessment, design-for-compliance specification, design review, and certifications/declarations during product development to ensure new hardware design meets technical compliance requirements in the global market.
  • Influence internal and external partners and stakeholders to align on a compliance solution or mitigation path that favors our business objectives during product development and operation.
  • Engage closely with hardware and supplier teams on product development to determine the impact of proposed regulatory changes on HW design, performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Develop key metrics to evaluate material and product compliance engineering program's performance, and build implementation plans to confirm our performance and compliance against program metrics, internal company requirements, and regulations.

Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary for this position is between $120,000 and $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of product compliance experience in the area of restricted substance compliance including REACH/RoHS/POPs, TSCA, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development in the electronic, consumer, or aerospace industry.
  • 5+ years of experience leading regulatory compliance certification campaigns for electronics and battery assemblies (CE marking, EMC Directive, RED directive, Battery Directive, Battery Regulation, Machinery Directive, etc.).
  • Experience with project management of technical projects.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
  • 10+ years of compliance experience in the area of restricted substance compliance including REACH/RoHS/POPs, TSCA, etc., and Product Compliance (CE marking) experience in compliance with EMC Directive, RED directive, Battery Directive, Battery Regulation, Machinery Directive.

Work Arrangement

This role can be performed remotely, with occasional on-site visits required at our Montreal office.

An excellent command of English is essential for effective communication and collaboration with clients outside Quebec.
