About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled AI Coach Architect to spearhead the development of groundbreaking AI-driven leadership coaching at Valence. As a founding member of our team, you'll report directly to our Head of AI and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of workplace development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Architect and develop enterprise-grade conversational AI solutions for leadership coaching.
  2. Develop, design, and implement improvements in user experience in conversational interactions leveraging LLMs in novel ways to advance product goals.
  3. Evaluate and improve existing conversational (LLM-based) models across dimensions of effectiveness, scalability, and efficiency.
  4. Implement, test, and deploy LLM-powered coaching agents that understand complex tasks, provide accurate and relevant responses, and adapt to diverse conversational contexts.
  5. Integrate and manage diverse data sources to enhance the knowledge and contextual understanding of our AI coaching models.
  6. Work with the product team to study user behavior and prioritize evolving product developments.
  7. Experiment at a high velocity to optimize user experience.
  8. Full stack - write, review, and deploy code across back and front end as needed.
  9. Streamlining data science processes to support rapid iteration and quality improvement.
  10. Support other science and software development where required.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML development, or a related field.
  3. Practical and theoretical knowledge of language systems in the areas of conversational systems, NLP, and Information Retrieval.
  4. Strong software engineering skills with a track record of developing data-driven machine learning systems or products.
  5. Proficiency in Python and relevant deep learning frameworks.
  6. Experience with cloud deployment of ML systems and open systems.
  7. Experience with Data Science tools and processes.
  8. Familiarity with ML lifecycle tools.
  9. Hands-on experience building Generative AI-powered applications.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts effectively.

Location and Work Environment

Valence is a remote-first company, and this role can be performed from anywhere. However, if you're based in NYC or Toronto, you can work hybrid in our offices. We're a global team, and we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and locations.
