Position: Family Lawyer

Location: Multiple

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage family law files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex matters.
  • Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, fostering a collaborative and client-centric approach.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, demonstrating expertise in family law procedures and protocols.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, leveraging strong advocacy skills to resolve disputes effectively.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring seamless and efficient case management.
  • Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, as it enhances our client's ability to provide comprehensive legal services.

Requirements:

  • 1st year of call + with some experience in British Columbia family law practice, demonstrating a strong foundation in family law principles and procedures.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and clients.
  • Desire to become part of the community served, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and support.

Compensation:

  • Base salary depending on the year of call, with opportunities for growth and advancement.
