Job Title: FPGA Designer

Allen-Vanguard is a global leader in counter-threat solutions, systems, and technologies. We deliver battle-proven equipment for defeating radio controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs) and other terrorist incidents at the technical, operational, and national policy levels.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA Designer to join our interdisciplinary engineering and technology team in our Ottawa, ON office. As an FPGA Designer, you will design, implement, and support a variety of Software Defined Radio (SDR) FPGA-based projects. Your responsibilities will include FPGA specific requirements generation, design documentation, implementation, simulation, test vector generation, and lab integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create high-level block diagrams and documentation
  • Develop and document RTL code to implement designs, coding in IP Integrator, HLS, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
  • Create detailed test benches and perform verification, including detailed timing analysis
  • Assist with the design and verification of digital schematics incorporating FPGA devices
  • Test and troubleshoot engineering prototypes in a lab environment
Requirements
  • Engineering degree focused on digital electronics/communications
  • Minimum 5 years of FPGA or ASIC design experience
  • Experience in VHDL and SystemVerilog
  • Experienced with ModelSim, Questa, Xilinx Vivado
  • Experience with ML and AI techniques on FPGA is highly desirable
  • Experience with SDR architectures is highly desirable
  • Experience with SoC architectures is highly desirable
