Position Scope

The Controls Engineer will act as a specialist in automation and assembly, responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and implementation of control systems and standards for assembly equipment. This role leads initiatives related to the development and execution of control systems and standards for assembly equipment, ensuring alignment with production needs for new programs and product introductions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and lead the planning and execution of control systems and standards for assembly equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications and regulatory codes.
  2. Evaluate and provide input on proposed designs from assembly tooling vendors to guarantee compliance with established specifications and codes.
  3. Draft specifications for the procurement of materials and equipment, including cost assessments and layout designs.
  4. Support the creation, modification, and testing of products and processes.
  5. Assist in interpreting engineering drawings for production teams.
  6. Contribute to the development, assessment, enhancement, and documentation of manufacturing processes.
  7. Help in the formulation and application of process control techniques and procedures.
  8. Participate in the creation and review of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
  9. Conduct root cause and failure analyses as necessary.
  10. Offer expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues.
  11. Inspect products and processes to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  12. Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software effectively.
  13. Generate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  14. Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  15. Resolve technical and product-related issues in the manufacturing process.
  16. Maintain current engineering knowledge and stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

  1. University Diploma in Engineering Technology or a minimum of 10 years of experience in the controls domain, encompassing hardware and software design.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, and Machine Controls.
  4. Solid understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  5. Strong familiarity with ISO 14001 / TS 16949 standards.
  6. Proficient in CAD software.
  7. Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles related to the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  8. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution.
  9. Adept at analyzing information and evaluating results to solve problems and select optimal solutions.
  10. Skilled in data analysis and technical document creation.
  11. Competent in using common hand tools and power tools.
  12. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and other database functions for reporting and analysis.
  13. Demonstrated time management and project management capabilities.
  14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  15. Strong organizational abilities.
  16. Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  17. Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
