Job Summary

The MEARIE Group is seeking a skilled Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and maintaining effective health and safety programs, conducting audits and evaluations, and providing training and support to staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Program Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs, including policies, procedures, and training plans.
  • Audits and Evaluations: Conduct regular audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to staff on health and safety policies and procedures, as well as conduct field inspections to monitor compliance.
  • Contractor Management: Perform pre-qualification of contractors and deliver contractor health and safety orientations as necessary.
  • Incident Reporting: Review incident reporting and ensure corrective actions are implemented and evaluated for effectiveness.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years' experience in a health and safety role for an electrical utility or related environment.
  • Certifications: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Certification considered an asset.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of IHSA Electrical Utility Safety Rules, intermediate knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. The company offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
