Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our team for our Abbotsford project. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for overseeing the civil construction activities, ensuring that the project is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and execute civil construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that schedules, safety, and quality standards are met and projects are within budget.
  • Develop and maintain open communication with the project team, stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure that all parties are informed and aligned with project progress.
  • Coordinate and manage the construction schedule, including developing and maintaining project schedules, ensuring that project milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Supervise and manage the performance of the team, including hiring, training, and providing guidance and leadership to ensure that the project is completed to the required standards.
  • Ensure that health and safety is a priority on site, ensuring that regulations are met, and environmental protection of the project is maintained.
  • Troubleshoot site issues, examine field conditions, correct inaccuracies, and implement cost-saving measures to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare daily project reports, review and approve timesheets for the team, and coordinate RFI's, SI's, and drawing changes.
  • Run site meetings with internal and external stakeholders, subcontractors, and staff to ensure that all parties are informed and aligned with project progress.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Civil Superintendent.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to supervise and guide staff in high-pressure and fast-paced work environments while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong organization and planning skills, proactive, and able to accurately build look-ahead schedules.
  • Good knowledge of the construction industry and business operations, including construction specifications, contract language, cost management processes, and project planning.
  • Working experience using GPS Survey.
  • Knowledge of alternative civil methods – plowing and trenching.
  • Knowledgeable with complex situations, experience troubleshooting and finding solutions to field challenges.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office – primarily Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Degree in Engineering, construction management, or similar field considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Jonas software is a plus.

Compensation

CAD 90,000-120,000.
