Research Professional for Global Metals and Mining

We are seeking a talented Research Professional to join our Equity Research team in Toronto, Ontario. As an Equity Research Associate, you will work closely with an analyst to provide insights and research on numerous companies in the precious and base metals sector.

Responsibilities
  • Daily writing of research reports and comments on market trends and company performances
  • Analysis of financial statements and press releases to identify key drivers and risks
  • Examination of industry databases and publications to stay up-to-date on market developments
  • Completion of extraordinary information and data requests from clients and internal stakeholders
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed financial models to support investment decisions
  • Communication of recommendations to internal and external clients through written reports and verbal presentations
  • Participation in site visits and management meetings to gather insights and build relationships
Requirements
  • A combination of exceptional writing skills, technical knowledge, and finance or accounting expertise demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • A keen interest in equity research and mining, with a strong understanding of market dynamics and trends
  • A positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to systematically manage a heavy workload and meet stringent deadlines
  • Flexibility to work irregular or extended hours as required
  • Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, FactSet, and other relevant tools
Education and Experience

Candidates should have an MBA/M.Geology or Mining background with real-world experience. A cover letter, resume, and short writing sample are required as part of the application process.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. The Bank of Montreal offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans. In addition, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives and discretionary bonuses.
